Goal of the Season

The Contenders

1. Ross Halliday vs First Base Dynamos on the 23rd Aug 2008 - Ross recieved the ball some 30 yards out controlled the ball and smashed a shot into the top corner on the half volley.

2. James Smith vs Kirkconnel on the 30th August 2008 - James recieved the ball some 40 yards out looked up and fired a powerful shot high into the net past the helpless goalkeeper. Important goal to get back level at 3-3.

3. Stuart Wight vs Lochmaben on the 13th September 2008 - Stuart recieved the ball from a throw in level with the penalty box. He turned his marker and hit a fierce swerving shot into the far top corner from fully 20 yards out.

4. Ross Halliday vs FC Dynamo Star on the 22nd November 2008 - This goal makes the list for two reasons. The first being the pass from Sean Kearney, the best of the season by miles, and secondly for the run, control and finish by Rosco. Sean K gained possession of the ball wide on the right and neatly turned his marker turning inside in the process. He then played a beautiful pass through to the box which was met by a brilliant run by Ross H. Ross then controlled the ball with his left and in the same move fired home from 10 yards out with his right.

5. Sean Kearney vs Terregles Athletic on the 10th January 2009 - Great goal in windy conditions. Sean received the ball 30 yards out and turned his defender and fired a fierce shot that beat the keeper for pace as it dipped just under the bar. 

6. Sean Kearney vs YMCA on the 7th March 2009 - Another Sean K special. Around 25 yards from goal, Sean, with his back to the goal took the ball down with his chest. With two defenders paying him close attention he let the ball drop and swivelled round to fire the ball into the net on the half volley.

7. Graeme Carling vs Morton Thistle on 18th april 2009 - The big man was played through and went on a direct run towards goaol from 35 yards out. After brushing two challenges away the keeper was next, he fared no better than his defenders and was second to the ball. A covering defender was also held off before the final 1 yard tap-in. Strength and power at its best.

Goal of the Season was No2 scored by James Smith - this was selected at the end of season night out.
